JUST FOR KANSAS JOURNALISM STUDENTS
Need cash for school? The Kansas Pro Chapter
of the Society of Professional Journalists is one of the biggest private awarders of journalism scholarships in the state. Each year,
at colleges all across Kansas, we give away $10,000 to students planning careers in journalism. Some scholarships are specifically designated for print journalists, broadcast journalists, minority journalists and journalists at small colleges.
You don't have to be a journalism major to apply.

The Freedom Forum-NCAA Sports Journalism Scholarship
The Freedom Forum in cooperation with the NCAA, is seeking scholarship applications from college juniors with career goals in sports journalism, majors in journalism or experience in campus sports journalism.
Eight $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to applicants in their junior year to assist them in their senior year of study. The program is specifically designed to foster freedoms of speech and press while promoting quality sports journalism education at the collegiate level. In addition to completing the official application form you must also include your official college transcript, three published examples of sports journalism work, a letter of recommendation from a journalism professor or supervisor of your journalism work.
Deadline for 2009-2010 school year:Application must be postmarked by Friday, Dec. 12, 2008
