About me:
I have a bachelor's of art in journalism from Northwest Missouri State University (Go Bearcats!). I graduated in 1996 and went on to the University of Kansas to complete a master's of science in journalism. I taught at NWMSU for one year while one of my fabulous professors finished up her doctorate degree. Then I was the publication specialist for the Washburn Alumni Association for almost three years before joining the faculty of the Mass Media Department. I also serve as the director of Student Publications. My husband, Gene, has been the Sports Information Director at Washburn since December 1998. We have two energetic boys at home, Jacob, 6, and Jared, 4.

In my spare time, I like to read books and blog.

Journalists should READ. Here are a FEW samples of some great articles:
St. Petersburg Times: Rampaging rooster attacks girl
St. Joseph News-Press: Listen to the heart
St. Petersburg Times: 5 hurt in multicar crash on U.S. 19
New York Times: Little to do in Baconton but wait for the flood
Poynter: Five boxes to build a story fast
Poynter: Managing Employees, Managing Personalities
Poynter: Mopsy is Dead - Long Live Rockadoodle!
